What We Do

We're passionate about providing the best facilities to enjoy practice and competition of all disciplines in a safe, welcoming and sustainable way.

Safe

We're a Home Office Approved club - AFBGC membership is a responsibility that allows legal use of firearms and is taken seriously. All shooting is overseen by qualified Range Officers / Range Conducting Officers with one to one supervision of less experienced members and full membership requires a minimum of 3 months' training. Our range facilites are designed, regularly inspected and maintained to ensure all ammunition is safely captured after being fired.

Welcoming

Our members are a diverse range of people with the connection of a love of their sport. Shooting is naturally inclusive, an ability to make small holes in paper from far away doesn't rely on many things which can make other sports challenging for some. Most  events we hold thoughout the year are social as much as competitive, but we provide opportunity for followers of almost every discipline to test their skills - Gallery Rifle and Pistol, Target Shotgun, Historic/Black Powder, Smallbore and Fullbore Precision and Practical.

Sustainable

We aim to have a positive impact in everything we do, from what our members gain from being part of our community to the way we manage the land we are responsible for. Our sport requires both discipline and focus, and is a completely mentally immersive mind cleanser - a great way to spend time away from 'real life'. The outdoor, natural environment in which we shoot is central to that experience and we take great care to look after it and the species there. The improvement in biodiversity of one of our ranges since our reactivation of the site has been immensely rewarding, with both plants and wildlife becoming more abundant in variety.
